5136812.jpg Barring accidents and unforeseen circumstances, Lucas Neill, the West Ham captain will be visiting the Music Gym this coming Thursday, September 20th.

This is part of the Premier League’s Creating Chances initiative. We had to describe our project and what we would ask the player to do there. That wasn’t difficult as it’s very rare for someone to try out the Music Gym and not enjoy it. So, we’ll be running an extra session for our members and ask the player to simply join in. Then we’ll take lots of photos of him looking ridiculous and finally be able to have our own building through the blackmail money. (Lucas’s agent - that’s a joke.)

Seriously, we’re very much looking forward to his visit. We do want the Music Gym to find a permanent home and trust that any publicity will help bring that about, and therefore benefit those with profound disabilities who use the facility on a regular basis.

Yesterday was the first session of what’s now the third year. Members who have been coming from the start arrived with the same air of excitement. Because of our longer opening hours and new group rates some old friends were able to return and they were clearly glad to be back.

The longer opening hours also meant there was time for a “dark” session at lunch time. By turning out the lights the shadow wall was much clearer and the Funky Jellies dancers (don’t ask) could try out their routine. Don’t worry Lucas, they won’t be there on Thursday so you won’t be asked to dance with an underwater creature on your head.
